Obama Asks if We Should Give Tax Breaks

Do we want to keep these tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans? Or do we want to keep our investments in everything else – like education and medical research, a strong military and care for our veterans? Because if we’re serious about paying down our debt, we can’t do both.”  ...

Obamas 2012 Oil Pipeline Dispute

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama and Congress are starting the election year locked in a tussle over a proposed 1,700-mile (2,735-kilometer) oil pipeline from Canada to Texas that will force the White House to make a politically risky choice between two key Democratic constituencies. It’s Not Obama’s Fault Where The Economy Is

There is a general consensus in the air that Obama is not popular. You don’t need to look at the polls to see this. So why is he unpopular? I believe it is because the average person has a short-term memory. People are truly worried about how they are going to pay their bills. Why are they worried about this? It is not the unemployment rate, even though the true unemployment numbers are probably closer to 20%. (The average the government talks about is those claiming benefits and forgets about those who cannot receive benefits or who...

Obama Signs Huge Spending Bill

Last Saturday, President Barack Obama signed a $1 trillion-plus 2012 spending bill that sets the day-to-day budgets of 10 Cabinet agencies. The Senate approved the bill last Saturday in a flurry of year-end activity that was overshadowed by an ensuing confrontation over extending a payroll tax cut. The spending measure locks in cuts that conservative Republicans won from the White House and Democrats this year. Both sides declared victory in the spending bill. Republicans blocked new federal regulations for light bulb energy efficiency, coal...
